Position Summary:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all maintenance operations to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of production equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role requires a proactive, hands-on leader who is willing to lead by example with strong troubleshooting and repair capabilities to support the company’s operational goals. The Maintenance Manager will manage and develop a skilled maintenance team, implement preventative maintenance strategies, minimize equipment downtime, and uphold the highest standards of safety and quality.

 

Key Responsibilities:

– Perform hands-on maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on manufacturing equipment, including furnaces, cutting machines, conveyors, and automated systems.

– Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to maximize equipment uptime and longevity.

– Lead, train, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, assigning tasks and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.

– Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to identify and resolve issues quickly.

– Collaborate with production managers to coordinate maintenance activities with manufacturing schedules, minimizing disruptions.

– Maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies, ensuring availability for urgent repairs.

– Monitor equipment performance and recommend upgrades or modifications to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

– Enforce compliance with safety regulations, including lockout/tagout procedures, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

– Document maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and team performance reports.

– Stay current on industry trends and technologies related to glass manufacturing equipment and processes.

 

Qualifications:

– Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisor or managerial role.

– Proven hands-on expertise with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems; experience with glass manufacturing equipment (e.g., CNC machines, tempering ovens) is a strong asset.

– Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team of technicians.

– Proficiency in reading technical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.

– Familiarity with preventative maintenance software and inventory management systems.

– Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

– Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and industrial regulations.

– Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

– Physical ability to perform hands-on tasks, including lifting to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.

 

Skills:

– Experience in glass manufacturing or a similar heavy industrial setting.

– Certification in electrical/millwright with experience in PLC trouble shooting preferred.

– Strong communication skills to liaise between maintenance and production teams.
