Position Overview:

We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Buyer/MRO Coordinator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the procurement of materials, parts, and services required for maintenance, repair, and operational needs across our facility. Helping improve the processes already in place to improve accuracy and efficiency. You will ensure that supplies are always available to minimize production downtime while maintaining cost control and supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement

  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for materials, spare parts, and services.
  • Manage purchase orders, ensuring timely approval and tracking delivery schedules.
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing and high-quality standards.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to assess and forecast supply needs based on production schedules and maintenance requirements.

Inventory Management

  • Monitor inventory levels of MRO materials and maintain optimal stock to prevent shortages or overstocking, this will include taking part when inventory counts are taking place.
  • Implement and maintain effective inventory control systems, including cycle counting and reorder points.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of received goods and manage discrepancies with suppliers.
  • A large part of this role will include glass buy and management, maintaining & building key relationships with our suppliers.

Cost Control & Reporting

  • Manage and control MRO budget by identifying cost-saving opportunities and driving supplier negotiations.
  • Analyze and report on MRO spending, including tracking actual versus budget performance.
  • Identify areas where common parts reducing on hand inventory can be utilized and identify areas where costs can be reduced.

Maintenance Support

  • Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure the timely availability of parts and materials for repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Expedite critical orders to minimize production equipment downtime.
  • Coordinate with service providers for equipment repairs and maintenance services as needed.

Compliance and Documentation

  • Ensure all purchased items meet safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, invoices, and supplier contracts.

Vendor and Supplier Management:

  • Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery times, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with the company’s standards.
  • Develop contingency plans for critical parts and supplies by identifying and establishing relationships with backup suppliers.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in supply chain management, business administration, operations management, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Consideration will be given to individuals who have current experience in this role.
  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or MRO coordination within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles and procurement best practices.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems for procurement and inventory tracking.
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and a proven track record of supplier management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate records and ensure smooth operations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and safety standards applicable to maintenance and operational supplies.
