Is there a “best way” to specify low-distortion heat-treated glass?
Increasingly, we find that architects and specifiers are referring to a millidiopter value when specifying the flatness of heat-treated glass, and it’s a perfect opportunity to highlight the differences between the feeler gauge style of measuring distortions and optical scanning!
We know, we know…there are also zebra boards for visual reference, and that C1048 references non-contact optical scanning, and C1651 is all about roller wave. However, we endeavour to instead showcase the difference between the two measurement methods and how architects, specifiers and glaziers can use each to better align with a range of fabricator capabilities, and ensure that they are receiving the best available glass for their client’s needs!
