Google Screens

Hudson Scenic Studio’s worked with AGNORA to conceptualize and build an incredible array of “live” wayfinding signage throughout Google‘s New York headquarters at the re-imagined and iconic Pier 57.  AGNORA’s glass protects and accents the digital wayfinding placed behind it, and though the project looks simple, a great deal of technology went into building the glass.

More Than Meets The Eye.

The laminated pieces consist of 6mm Guardian Clarity on UltraClear (anti-reflective coating on surface one) laminated to 6mm Optiwhite. The anti-reflective coating ensures the viewer has an easier time reading the content of the screen behind, and reduces visual clutter associated with reflections.

The inner OptiWhite had custom black ceramic print applied to border the glass, and cover display and mounting hardware. This display "bevel" also contains a custom gradient to improve the aesthetic and better blend the print to the screen.

Lastly, the interlayer utilized a unique Eastman Vanceva colour of Ocean Grey and Solutia Clear. Multiple applications of the interlayer led to an off-white aesthetic of the glass and softens the digital screens' brightness and vividness. This creates a more pleasurable reading experience while also blending with the ambient lighting and aesthetic of the space.

The glass ranges in size from 27" x 102" all the way to mammoth 71" x 105" custom glass pieces.
