Vesterheim Commons – Custom Printed Frit

Vesterheim is preparing the campus for an exciting new building, called Vesterheim Commons, that will offer an inspiring community gathering space, a beautifully integrated museum campus on the city block, and a connection to folk-art traditions.

The project plays an important role in collaboration with local community members and business partners in making Northeast Iowa a destination, including for Viking Cruise visitors.

The stunning and architecture and natural materials honor the beauty of Decorah’s natural surroundings and have been created with a focus on sustainability by using locally sourced mass timber solutions.

Beautifully Printed Ceramic Frit

AGNORA's involvement with the Vesterheim Commons surrounds incredibly detailed printed frit installed tastefully throughout the commons. Designed to accentuate and embolden the architecture encapsulating it, these giant IGUs use a precise blend of AGNORA's extensive colour palette.

The panels cover an incredible 750 sq.ft. of area and range in size up to 96" x 128".

For solar, thermal and wind load performance, Guardian Glass' balanced SN68 on UltraClear (low iron) at a 10mm thickness was used on the outboard light. The inboard lite consisted of x2 6mm Pilkinton OptiWhite (low iron) with the ceramic print embedded with the laminate.

The result is a stunningly clear, picture-perfect ceramic print.
